Bonuses & Promotions

8 / 10

Supabets is not the best in terms of bonuses, especially a new gambler. The South African site currently offers a R50 free bet for new users but other sites have better bonuses. There are not many promotions available for sign ups though there are some for regular users. After some time and betting R75000 on sports and numbers in the period of one month, it is possible to improve your status and become a VIP which eventually results in you ‘winning’ back some of your losses and being able to use it as a free bet. At times, these gamblers receive better odds in a certain timeframe and a direct lines to the bookies.

At the time of writing, there was a first supabets deposit bonus of 200% up to a maximum of R2500 and offers on Serie A games in which it is possible to win money by predicting the score of a big match after placing any bet with a minimum R20.

Odds

7 / 10

Supabets offers odds on many football leagues that are quite attractive when compared to some other places. Punters in the target markets of Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Ghana and South Africa love to bet on the English Premier League and the betting margins on offer are generous especially in the pre-match section and the variety of bets is highly impressive. Overall the odds offered on Supabets are comparable with the leading online sports gambling sites around and while they may not be fantastic, they are competitive.

Mobile

7 / 10

Using the Supabets website on your mobile device is simple and straightforward; users have few problems placing bets and navigating the sites. The red and black design looks smart and you can quickly choose what sports you want and with one press, you can be scrolling through a lot of bets.

The real talking point however is the absence of a mobile Supabets app that can be downloaded. It is strange that such a big company does not offer one of the most common methods of online gambling in a region where most people access the internet on smartphones. There is talk that this will change soon but at the moment, it is a web browser only. It works well though.

Usability

8 / 10

The Supabets desktop is easy to use with drop-down menus giving a quick glance at all the sporting events on which to bet with in a 24-hour period (you can also see games that are live and within the next 2 and 24 hours as well as the next 4 days and beyond. In general, the menu is simple: the different sports and bets available on the left, the details of the different bets in play in the middle and your account and betting details on the right.

  • Limitations
  • No easily accessible payment methods

For the sports gambler, there is perhaps a little too much prominent space given to the likes of lotto and free spins but after time, this can be ignored. Still, for the new user, there won`t be any problems in navigation over Supabets website.

Types of Bets

9 / 10

The lack of an app is a pain as it makes life easy for the customer but you can soon forget the absence when you get into the site. A first look at the site listed almost 600 different bets for an English Premier League game. There are also bets available for esports, beach volleyball and table tennis. It is easy to navigate and there is a separate section to gamble on goalscorers in soccer games which makes that nice and easy. There is no live streaming of sporting events but the live in game betting works well and there is a dedicated page for this.

Credibility

9 / 10

Supabets hit that sweet spot between not being one of the old guard but not, after coming to existence in 2008, being completely new and unknown to the gambling scene either. Dozens of physical stores in Africa shows that this is a big company and familiar to people around the continent and being part of the Gauteng Gambling group also helps. It has a good reputation around the continent and has been granted a full gambling licence from the South African government. More information and transparency with regards to company information and background would be a plus but is not a major issue for a site now firmly part of the gambling scene.

Payment Methods

8 / 10

As you would imagine for a large company that operates in various countries, Supabets makes it as easy as possible for punters to deposit money in their accounts. The usual credit cards – VISA and MasterCard – are welcomed, but that is just the tip of the iceberg.

There are a number of bank transfer methods with banks familiar to customers in the region and having an account with First National Bank, Standard Bank, Nedban or ABSA, allows you to use thea SID (Secure Instant Deposit)t system with a helpful video that shows you how to use it. It allows you to use your phone to instantly transfer money via your bank account. It is also possible to physically visit these banks and transfer money and it is all done in local currencies.
There are also a number of prepaid cards and vouchers that can be used to top up funds but there is a lack of ewallets supported such as PayPal, Skrill and Neteller but there are enough alternative options that this should not be a major issue.

Good. Didn’t like having to enter supabets contact details to start a live chat but it wasn’t that intrusive and I was helped inside a minute at what must have been a busy part of the day. Information was quickly and efficiently given without the kind of fake friendliness that can be found elsewhere. Other options were not immediately as clear on the site as they should have been but a phone call was answered quickly and an email was replied to in about one hour. Overall, fast and painless and punters can also get in touch through the site’s various social media platforms.

Overall

8.1 / 10

Is a solid rather than spectacular site but one that serves the needs of African gamblers well. The wide variety of international sports on offer is pleasing as is the number of bets that can be placed. Supabets outperforms many of its rivals rivals when it comes to promotions and bonuses and with many deposit methods, it has never been easier to bet.

The website works well with lots of information as well as helpful videos to watch and it is also smooth and easy to navigate when using a mobile device. The absence of an app is a minus and if this was added then the mobile betting experience could move to another level.
